I am a volunteer treasurer for an association of ministers in the Uniting Church, so every while I receive bank statements. Pretty run-of-the-mill stuff. We don’t spend a lot, so normally the statement only has interest credit recorded on it.
Today the statement came with a newsletter, talking about the current global financial crisis and how the institution can help those wanting more security, yada yada yada. The financial institution is managed by one of our church’s synods, so no big surprise that the newsletter is called Mustard Seed.
No big surprise, sure, but really disconcerting. It bothers me that the newsletter’s title takes me to the story of how faith can grow, and yet is used to talk about money.
Should I be bothered?

Yep, that’d be enough to annoy me too.
And now I’ve started to think about variants on “Australia’s Got Talent” for a more appropriate parabolic title.
