I thought 2:37 was a great first film, for a very young director (21 at the time!) - and I really liked some of the young actors.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS**********
I thought that the film relied too heavily on the shock value of watching such graphic scenes. The incestuous rape, bleed out, etc…
Also, I have read that some viewers were unimpressed with a film that sets up a “who did it” scenario, then finishes with a “concluding suicide” by a character that had no development throughout the film. Some felt a bit tricked.
Another film that has left some audiences feeling a little bewildered (esp American) is Cache (or Hidden). Did you watch this film Paul?

Couldn’t get into it. It moved too slowly for me.
