Following Lindsay’s idea, here is my list of top 5-10 movies relating to media, religion and culture:

1. Animatrix: if only for the high religious symbolism in its narrative (eg. Shiva (?) as the GUI image in the first and third stories) and particularly in one scene where a television set is being trolleyed through battle trenches on which a televangelist preaches the destruction of the world.

2. Signs: about a man who loses his faith and finds it again.

3. The Village: about a new world order where myths and legends are used to keep strict moral codes that serve only one purpose - to protect the new world order.

4. The Hills Have Eyes: your run-of-the-mill Wes Craven horror where mutants wants to eat you and your family and sell your jewellery, but I want to ask why the family was Christian, right-wing, NRA, ex-military, etc etc?

5. 12 Monkeys: I have to mention it, because it’s my all time favourite, but also because it asks which of us are really insane and which of us speak the real truth, and where a psychiatrist call for a new religion (beyond psychiatry).
